Old Rain

Marauding time plans to steal you away.

One by one like sheep led astray,

Your memories will wander far from my mind

Unto the shadowy regions of my thought confined.

And the ache brought by each moonrise will cease

Until even in the vast emptiness I find peace

From the great departure that ruptured my heart.

And a new star may one day impart

Familiar dreams that I once held dear

As I am drawn to the rising frontier.

But once in awhile the skies may grow grey

And with old rain will come the return of a stray.

I’ll keep it close ‘till the skies revert blue.

A remembrance of all my days with you.
